I have said this. I can't pretend the desire to use a proxy for the USD isn't preferable to worse fiat for the global south. And telling them they have to jump straight to Bitcoin and just deal with the volatility is distasteful.

It's the big elephant in the room that everybody don't want to see.

Stablecoins are fiat with extra steps and fewer consumer protections. At least your bank pretends to be accountable when it loses your money.
