HODLing and using Bitcoin can be a strange path to follow. At first, you want to try and 'save people'.

Then after a while, you realise you can't save them because lots of people don't want to be saved.

Help the people who are willing to listen, and be patient about it.

When will bitcoin be used more as a currency vs an investment vehicle?

The truth is, you can't save everyone, because not everyone thinks there's a danger to be saved from.

I think when btc passes large psychological numbers $100,000 and £1M etc sheeple will follow the critical mass of their tribe.

I think when trying to orange pill someone, we often start with the solution, which most are not ready to hear because it's such a phase shift. I find starting at first principles and asking undeniable questions like 'if technology replaces labour, why do things continue to get more expensive?' tend...

My only exception to that is my extended family, who I will save despite themselves.

Yes, much more sustainable to focus only on those who are willing to listen!

A buddy remembers, years ago, when he was teaching his son about saving his money. I told him, if you can't get through to him, perhaps he could go across the street and talk to your neighbor. My buddy busted out laughing. The neighbor across the street on his garage door in huge letters had: "JES...

I think being able to help people depends a lot on one’s ability to articulate. There are some people in the space like our boy Vijay Boyapati (get this guy on Nostr already!) who are able to explain in a calm, simple and patient manner. Sadly I am terrible at explaining things and so my rate of ...

Couldn’t agree more. It’s really a function of time The more you try and “help” or “wake them up”, the more you realise it’s a waste of time They’ll get it when they get it (if ever) and that’s ok Actually really important to come to terms with this as it’s super frustrating...

It was my first bear market that made me realise I should never tell anyone what they should do with their money. If I think a friend is ready I’ll encourage them to learn and be there if they have questions.

As long as you can help yourself and your family, you should be proud of your actions. People don't need to be saved, people should save themselves, otherwise we're no different from any statist organizing the life of others for the collective good.

💯 Orange pilling doesn't happen overnight, and certainly not if you try to force it down their throats! Yesterday a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in a while asked me how my "Crypto thesis" was going. I said I'm not writing a crypto thesis I'm writing a Bitcoin book. I explained the differen...

I also notice that people have no f’ing clue why they invest in other vehicles. They only reason they have for putting money in a crypto or stocks is that simply put, it boils down to ‘I’m hoping it goes up’ They cannot tell you a single thing about why. It’s a patience game for sure.

I feel this, nowadays I’ll bring up Bitcoin once, after that it’s up to them if they want to know more about it.

So true. It's the same with all kinds of "revolutionary" information (and there is loads of). UNlearning what you believed (or were taught) is the hardest part and yet the essential prerequisite.
goht · 87w
Then you understand that you, and no one else, created this desire to be saved.

it seems like many in the global West can sense problems with the money but dont know the source or the solution. the legacy biases are so entrenched. guess many people need to experience severe pain/problems to do the work
