💽 Sony’s concept of the “virtual reality video journalist” from the 90s. This was largely a “fuck it why not” project, as in it was just for fun. But at the same time it reflected growing ambitions around digital media, cyberculture, and the incoming internet age.

Love it. Seems like this would fit right in with the guys in the MIT wearables project from the 90s https://npub1tfr3twzwdqmn79hef9c8kytwvgmxxstv92wqwrgzuk6hcz0e33pqgkxd67.blossom.band/dfe11eb66980b696731ab91fc7d18aff2a535f29755030930b4f3dcf8eebcd32.jpg

I find 90's "cyber"-culture fascinating to see what has and hasn't survived the test of time... This reminds me of the “gargoyle” concept that was part of Neal Stephenson’s book Snow Crash. His vision of a future surveillance culture hadn’t yet met hardware minimization.
