Das Bunker?
I guess the event I went to in August (mostly to see a JOHNNY_HEALTH DJ set) felt similar to past Das Bunker events I had attended at The Catch One; but given that I live in Northern California? I was never a regular.
I remember originally getting a flyer for Das Bunker at Kontrol Faktory in the mid 1990s. I would venture down there from time to time at the old Long Beach Que Sera location where it was a monthly, more often than not, with my friend kma (Kevin Archibald [RIP]) aka DJ Abattoir (maybe best known to the gothdustrial scene for running Dystopian Records which released a couple of compilations), who was original from SoCal but had long since moved up to the Bay Area. Kevin and I would usually meet up with our friend Yugo (DJ Statik at Das Bunker and the one off [I think? At least, I only attended once] affiliated event in Claremont: Electrik Kafe named from Kraftwerk inspirations, who has since moved to Japan and became a resident DJ at Midnight★Mess in Tokyo).
The old monthly Das Bunker was super chill. Franck et al were super personable to the point of sometimes being open to spinnin CDs we may have brought in as recent imports.
I'm probably going to retell the story poorly, but I seem to recall Kevin recounting one of his first experiences with Franck as being confusing. Basically, Franck approached him and said something like: "I hear you like the 'Black Leather'." To which Kevin (a vegan and pacifist), apprehensively replied something like: "I'm not sure where you heard that?" (worried that maybe he was being hit on by a big leather daddy in accent affected English). To which Franck responded: "Y'know, The Klinik? 'Black Leather'?" At which point Kevin breathed a sigh of relief, "Ah, yes I do like 'Black Leather'!"

I don't remember when I last saw Franck, given how irregularly I have visited Das Bunker over the decades. However, he always greeted me warmly. I was amazed Franck seemed to remember me, but I guess I was one of the few folks there early enough so maybe it left an impression? Or maybe he's just a super nice guy! Either way, Das Bunker visits, fun though they are still, without seeing him? Haven't felt the same.
