I'm not a meshtastic developer, but any interest in creating a group of Nostr folks to figure out how to combine bitchat with meshtastic?
What I can bring to the table:

I just started looking into it. My initial plan would be pretty hackey.
I'm curious what hardware you got coming.
bitchat and meshtastic are apparently both available for Linux.
It could be as easy as getting them running on the same board (Raspberry Pi or whatever) and writing something to act as a go-between.
It would be fun to work with someone on it.
