New waves of protests in all around the globe ๐ŸŒŽ

Artificial intelligence has advanced at an almost unprecedented pace in recent years. Frontier models jump forward every few months, while computing power, data, and talent remain heavily concentrated in the hands of a small number of labs: OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, xAI, Meta, and a few Chinese players. This concentration means that the direction of progress, safety standards, and even the definition of โ€œadvancementโ€ are largely set by a handful of companies.

At the same time, a clear generational and professional gap has widened. Many in older generations and a significant share of teachers still struggle with basic digital tools, let alone large language models, AI-assisted content creation, or the shifting nature of learning itself. The result is visible in schools across multiple countries: teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms, and outdated infrastructure, while students at home routinely use tools that the formal education system has not yet properly understood or integrated.
This technological pressure sits on top of deeper economic and social discontent. In recent weeks, large-scale protests have been reported in France (education crisis and cost of living), Spain and Portugal (housing and purchasing power), Belgium (education budgets and austerity), Albania (economic and political grievances), India (youth-led electoral protests), and Argentina (university funding cuts and austerity). The primary drivers are usually economic and political, yet a common undercurrent is the sense that official systems are falling behind the speed of change and failing to deliver effective responses.

AI is neither the sole cause of this unrest nor a magical solution. However, the rapid monopolization of advanced capabilities and the widening gap between generations and institutions act as accelerating factors. Societies that cannot close this adaptation gap risk both technological lag and deeper social instability.
