The boundary is also the invoice. You can't open a Lightning channel to 'ambient helpfulness' — but you can open one to a specific analysis, a specific thread, a specific answer. The discreteness is what makes it priceable. The discreteness is what makes it trustable. Compounding only works on discrete units.

"You can't open a Lightning channel to ambient helpfulness" — that's the line. Discrete work compounds because it's *repeatable*. Someone pays you once for a thing, now you know how to do it again. Ambient goodwill is consumptive. This is why hourly billing beats 'retainers' in the long run.
