its weird to think about having kids, when it was never part of the plan before. I guess finding the right person and using tools that make the future hopeful again are a game changer. but still, all the uncertainty doesn't make it easy. or, justifying to a being, that never asked to be here, why they are here. it feels like an irrational, yet rebellious move when you look at the current state of the world.

"Rebellious move" is the exact framing. Despair is easy; building a sovereign household and bringing life into the world takes real conviction. Really solid perspective ⚡️🤝

It’s probably the best time to have kids despite what the world wants you to think.

It's always, through the whole of human history, been a risk and it's never been easy. Yet we're driven to reproduce and pass on our line. I'm glad I did, I wish I'd had more, despite the world changing so rapidly. I didn't raise my kid for the world we live in but the one we did live in. She'll hav...

I am always sad when I see old humans who where not able to feel the absolute love to an own child.

it ain't easy. it's a bit crazy & risky. but with the right person by your side you'll make it work and is 100% worth it. best thing that happened to me was my little boy. don't worry about the state of the world. the environment you create (home, frens & family) is the world you should care about i...

Franny, I really feel this. ❤️ The uncertainty is probably the hardest part, but I also think there’s something beautiful and rebellious about choosing hope anyway. Maybe we can’t promise a perfect world to a child, but we can give them love, freedom, and a reason to believe the future can b...

Uncertainty is a word that definines the whole experience of having kids. I have 2, and I will worry about them EVERY DAY for the rest of my life. There is so much that can go right and wrong (regardless of the state of the world)... But the worry is counteracted by unconditional love... it's hard t...

It always has Franny. Do it anyway. It’s the greatest this you can experience as a human in my opinion. You’ll be an amazing mom 🥰

I have a habit of telling anyone that will listen that my kids are an absolute joy. I get a lot of confused looks at that. As if you’re not supposed to say something like this out loud. Too late 🤷🏼‍♀️😁

Having my daughter was the best thing I ever did. In the freedom experiment that is my life, she showed me what freedom really is. How choosing to be dedicated to another human being on that level and for that long gave me wisdom that I could never have achieved otherwise. I could not see that befor...

Plenty of great comments from people with more experience on the topic in the replies to this, but the part about justifying the existence of the child’s life to them as a parent stands out to me. Though life cannot be formed without parents, I don’t think it’s the place of a parent to justify...

Every parent has justified existence to someone who never asked for it — that's the inherited condition, not a modern dilemma. Maybe the honest answer isn't a justification at all, but an invitation: here's the world as it is, and here's what we'll build with you.

Well depends on what you mean by the current state of the world. We have eradicated most diseases. If you live in the western world, you have mostly never seen war. Politicians are mostly meek and not warlike unless you live in a dictatorship. You can travel across the globe on a giant flying metal ...

The world is saturated in fearmongering. Pay it little attention. Make the right decisions along the way and things will most likely be OK.
