Whatโ€™s hypergamy. Thatโ€™s a new one for me

Basically, seeking the best mate possible, usually better than oneself in several metrics

Social media has generally had the effect of making most women think higher of themselves due to men showing them massive amounts of attention, so that combined with the most famous, attractive, wealthy, and fit men being reachable through the same platforms has led to the top ~10% of men (holistically - status, looks, wealth, charisma, etc.) having access to almost all women.

Even the women that don't go for the highest status males can still contact them, be contacted by them, and constantly feel like they could have or should have done better

It's good for the guys in the top 10% or guys that are close to the top 10% and can improve, but it's devastating for normies. A 5/10 man now has to get a 2/10 woman while the 5/10 woman thinks she can marry a 9/10 man simply because she can get sexual attention from him (and is repulsed by the man who is her male "equivalent")
Before social media, people mostly settled for someone close to their "sexual market value"

Social media negatively affected men as well but not as badly because the men were far less able to act upon these social connections other than staring, throwing out thirsty remarks, and tricking (offering finances for attention)

It's a long topic

TBF, all the most-delusional single women I know IRL also have therapists who tell them they are special, amazing and worth it. Just like being a member of a cult. "Helping-profession" incentives started this cultural problem in the 1970s, social media only made it visible to all.

Counselors also sometimes tell women to run away from/break up with men with "racist," "patriarchal," or anti-System views, even if they were initially quite attracted. I've even seen them purposely break up marriages and families.

I feel like it's social medias hasn't really had that much impact. Women already had higher standards for mates than man, that's biologically hardwired. Social media definitely adds a bunch of temptation to be unfaithful especially for women. There's always someone more attractive and more succes...
