Ed Miliband's work as Energy Secretary (not least of all due to the current crisis) has catapulted him into pole position for any future Labour Leadership contest, which itself is a major rehabilitation for his as an ex-party leader.

Whether its because he's an intellectual & that's what the party now seems to think ti needs (as suggested by Gaby Hinsliff) or whether as I suspect its because he's relatively untouched by scandal, he's star is rising (again).
