Apropos an earlier toot about public appointments, my success rate is less than 50%.
I was successful with the TAB (now on my second term).
And with the ICO Technology Advisory Panel, but the TAP did absolutely nothing, and I wasn't selected again when they renewed the TAP.
I was unsuccessful with the Security Vetting Appeals Panel, and a position that I can't quite remember (which perhaps suggests that I was not the right candidate) with the Law Commission. I think that there is (at least) one other too.
My approach is "If I don't apply, I definitely won't get it".
