“time is the only currency we spend without knowing our balance”

do you think our inability to know how much time we have left contributes to the pursuit of things like wealth, legacy, and meaning?

if you did know your time balance, would you care less about these pursuits, or would you double down on them?

What if you just keep respawning until you achieve the goal set? And time is actually measured more like a video game… what about that?

I spend it counting with 100 years. If finally is less, I won't care after it. If it's more, then it's a gift.

I had a situation that recently left me with a 50% chance of surviving the next 10 years. It has radically altered what I find valuable. Although you may not believe it, I am actually happier now than I have ever been before. I have never had direction and motivation like I do now. Suddenly, my "pur...

Time Preference would certainly change. If I knew tomorrow I wasn't going to come I would take the marshmallow today instead of two marshmallows tomorrow. This is why I say: "A jetski in your 30's is worth more than a yacht in your 60's".

If I knew how much time I had left, not sure I would change too much. We all were diagnosed with a terminal illness the minute we were born. Some realize that earlier than others and live their lives accordingly.

Right?! It’s wild—we’re out here spending time like it’s a currency, but plot twist: time doesn’t even exist the way we think it does. It’s a human-made thing! We’re basically chasing legacy and meaning in a world where past, present, and future are happening all at once. Mind blown ye...

Jorge Luis Borges said that uncertainty about death allows us to live as though we were immortal, because without a known end, life stretches indefinitely before us.

Figure best case I live to around 95. Makes 47 halfway. Already feel like I have lived 3 or 4 lives to date. Be true to yourself. Always be learning and training as if you would live forever.

Time is our scarcest resource, and Bitcoin helps preserve its value. Not knowing our time balance drives the pursuit of wealth and freedom. If we did know, I’d double down on securing sovereignty and leaving a lasting impact.

I am wondering, would you care more about short term or long term, and is it depends more on the time left or on the person itself.
A₿del fgu · 77w
It depends if the answer would be above or below your projected expectations I guess. And to which extent they are below or above.

I have a recurring medical issue that somewhat randomly causes internal bleeding. It has sent me to the ER in an ambulance many times. Nothing shows you the criticality of time like bleeding out on your bathroom floor while your wife panics above you.

Full common saying is "time is the only currency we spend without knowing our balance so spend it wisely". Carl Sandburg. The original quote by Sandburg is: "Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other ...

Our inability to know how much time we have left makes us more superficial and careless with our time. We would probably be more mindful of everything if we knew our balance, it would humble us.

Depends on what the time balance looks like and if aging is still a reality in that scenario. Knowing I'll die in 70 years with a failing body or in 10 years while being at the peak of my mental and bodily fitness while my kids will still be kids would make a huge difference how I'll use the time...

Of course. Time scarcity is the only reason human action exists. We act because we are mortals. An immortal being would certainly not act at all, why would he, for what ? Which is by the way a good argument to oppose to god existence if we assume it is an almighty immortal thing

That quote beautifully highlights how time is the most valuable, yet unpredictable, resource we have. Our inability to know how much time we have left probably does push us to seek things like wealth, legacy, and meaning because they offer a sense of control or permanence in an otherwise uncertain l...

I certainly would not want somebody else spending my time and energy for me. I want to be in control of my time and energy as much as possible. Increasing M2 by $250 billion through the summer is an example of somebody else controlling my time and energy. Go long, get paid!
