When a CEO gives Q2 or Q3 guidance, they are synthesizing something no government report can match: real-time order books, pipeline conversations with customers, supplier pricing, and internal demand signals across their entire business.
One company's guidance is anecdotal. But when 400+ S&P 500 companies report within a few weeks, those individual forward views aggregate into a distributed economic sensor. It is the highest-resolution demand picture available, and it updates faster than GDP, PMI, or employment data.
