I can verify the Bitcoin supply to the satoshi using my own hardware and software. How much gold is in Fort Knox? Nobody knows. Perfect auditability is much more important than transportability imo.

Unless the teleporter is built into the gold protocol, I'm guessing the cost would be fairly prohibitive
