I never understood the creation vs evolution debate. The two words don’t even describe the same part of the process being described. These two concepts can and must coexist.

One term describes how things, including living creatures, came INTO being…

The other describes how things change AFTER coming into being, through selection for traits. Traits that enhance or diminish survivability, and in turn the likelihood of reproducing.

What am I missing here? Aside from a frontal lobe

You aren't missing a frontal lobe brother, just that the theory of evolution is fundamentally flawed, you even described it way better than what it actually says.

I think it’s the “coming into being” bit. From what I can tell, the dispute is about how it all started. A creation event AS WELL AS a subsequent evolutionary path is a minority view. Most find themselves in an either or situation to support their priors. Updating priors can be challenging.

Agreed. I don’t buy the macro evolution story. I lean more in the old earth creationist camp like Hugh Ross but I think evolution and creationism are compatible. An argument would be what the Bible teaches.

The phrases, “Let the earth yield/produce” in Genesis are interesting. If it turned out that God delegated the creation of life partly to creation, that wouldn’t change much for me. It’s a little humorous to consider that life could have originated from a kind of vibe coding. If that is true...
