OpenStreetMap is user-curated, and in some regions it is exceptionally detailed. In others, it can lack POI detail (parts of USA, often).
For foot, bicycle or wheelchair navigation OSM will be usually from better to much better.
For hiking it's OSM data, hands down.
And OSM data is also used by a huge number of apps, so choosing the most suitable on can help a lot as well.
