Obviously someone monetizing your music instead of yourself is an extremely hypothetical scenario, but it's just to make a point. Obviously the music itself isn't scarce once it's on the internet and it's just a certain arrangement of musical notes and English words. However, the time you put into creating that information is scarce, human time is scarce. So someone coming along and taking that song for themselves and potentially using a big marketing budget behind it to make money from it is surely theft of your time which is a scarce resource. Surely you use government force to protect physical scarce resources at the moment?
