New rabbit hole. You want hyper-Bitcoinization, pleb?
Shipping is the market we target. Shipping Men are learning about Bitcoin now that Iran has proposed tolls. The world is waking up that freedom of navigation is no longer a guarantee. There’s talks that Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia would like to charge tolls for the Straight of Malacca. Panama City is accepting Bitcoin for taxes and fees. Not the canal yet, but you have to think they’ve noticed.
We need a scrappy group of Bitcoiners to start buying physical assets and looking for ways to integrate Bitcoin payments into the space. Eventually nothing moves without sats flow.
I’ve been an importer my entire career and I’ve never taken much of an interest in shipping before. It felt out of reach. I had an epiphany this weekend and I’m doing a deep dive here.
Come along with me.
-I’m listening to the novel: The Shipping Man
-I’ve downloaded the Lloyd’s List news app and subscribed to their Podcast. Reading up on Spash247 too which has great insight on current events.
-I’m studying the space. Vessel types, industry players, trade shows, brokers, ship yards and financing models
As an importer, I have an adjacent understanding of how the business runs, but now I want to find a niche in that space and squeeze in.
