I stopped advising people to self custody, it's a lot of responsibility, if something happens to their funds its on you, what i do is just explain the options and tradeoffs. Self custody is hard, don't try to fool people, for most people having the coins on an exchange is still the best option.

It’s only money separated from state if used P2P to pay for things. Otherwise it‘ll die.

I don't think exchanges are a good option at all. But I've also stopped advising on self-custody. I'll point people in that direction and tell them how to start learning, but doing the research is on them. It's the only way.

1k btc lost on one hardware wallet is worse than 1M btc or more lost on exchanges? How so?
