There is some people out here that are suggesting we should use DAOs for everything and ley me try to explain why I think it’s crazy even if it’s technologically possible

For one second, close your eyes and think of a world were absolutely everything requieres you to align and vote

Even on simple things like what time the street lights go off, urbanism rules, how to synch the traffic light, what should be the content of your kids school, discussions about foreign policies , agreements on replacing the electric grid in your neighborhood for one that is more reliable, agreements on extending the metro line, discussions on how to allocate the budget of your city, town, country etc

And in addition to that, you also need to stay up to date on your career to remain competitive and also spend hours at work

Now, open your eyes… would that be possible?

Some people would say; ok you can delegate but how can I even know who is best across so many different topics. I wouldn’t have time to do that

So then you go back to delegating to a bigger entity that will in general have some principles that you agree with and then you delegate to them so they assign experts on every topic (even if then, those are not real experts)

So now we are back to where we are today

The problem is corruption. I don’t mean naked corruption like bribes, etc, just the legal stuff of favours and interests that hijack the system and bleed it out whilst everyone else is trying to concentrate on their own life. That’s the problem. It’s all so late stage and infected.

Decentralisation and participatory budgeting. Solved problems. I shouldn't have to vote on streetlights anywhere but my street, unless I'm doing charity or have a business in a commercial precinct elsewhere. And I should vote on streetlights exactly once, until someone who wants change can get quo...

Well, it wouldn't be quite "back to where we are today" because you will have the choice to be *directly* involved if you wanted to. Today we can't, it's delegated or nothing and that is what creates most of the misalignment of incentives. But of course there will be other issues. Apathy is one of ...
