@nprofile1q... I think it's great that they include both, plus the TrackPoint requires real physical buttons, so you get that option too. I imagine that some people really love it over touchpads if they are long time ThinkPad users and have the muscle memory for it. One thing I've noticed is that the TrackPoint works OK for FPS games while a touchpad doesn't.
