Sometimes it helps if you don't take a smartphone with you. Don't eat dinner too late. Do not drink alcohol. Take magnesium 1-2 hours before going to sleep. If you don't have too many thoughts drifting around in your head and disturbs you to calm down. And yes, soft mattresses are hell. ^^
