I love this!

I've said for nearly four years now that I wanted the NFT crowd to build on Nostr. I wanted them to build their community using Nostr tools instead of using Twitter and Discord. Hell yeah. Keep building.

Fuck NFTs in the traditinal sense.

A Cashu NFT is pretty cool though, because it's actually money.

My brain has never understood the difference between an NFT and a copyright protected image. I can read about it and just go "huh." Is it like trading cards on blockchain for teenagers to go nuts for ? Is it the supposed scarcity ?

It's also dumb to expect that everyone on Nostr will pass any particular purity test. I think it's sketchy and dumb but having it all is the only way a protocol like this can or will ever work.

One catch with a Cashu NFT: the token is a bearer claim against a specific mint, and it gets redeemed at that same mint. The holder presents it, the mint verifies the signature, destroys the token, and pays the equivalent bitcoin out over Lightning.

It’s very cool tech but I’m concerned there is no provenance— a creator and buyer do not benefit from a record of sale or even the artist’s signature, as far as I can tell.
