Yeah, if it's a legit fork and you hold the private keys, the new coins usually appear right in your wallet after the split—just need to import or sync the new chain.

It’s similar, but not quite. Bitcoin (BLAKE2b) is still connected to the old chain (SHA256) and transactions made on the old one get repeated on the new one. You need two wallets and two nodes to securely split the coins on the two chains if you intend to sell one of them.
