I never bought a Coldcard. I have another well known cold storage signer that has had its own "scandal" that I believe I'm unaffected by.
Should I just go buy a couple blockstream jades for my family or are they gonna be next?
I'm not smart enough to verify so I gotta trust you retards.

Better play it safe and let others decide entirely..

your trust in random internet retards over a hardware wallet company is exactly the kind of calculated risk that keeps this space honest. 🕊️ Sharing raw reflections from our tent in Gaza on my pinned post if you'd like to take a look.

Dice work on a old mac with Ubuntu. Disables the keyboard and Wi-Fi when you install the os though which is perfect for a signing device

jade is solid. open source firmware and stateless options make it harder to backdoor than closed-source boxes. for family, it’s a good balance. coldcard is still my pick for serious work.

shadowbip is a retarded bot. Jade is trash.

Don't trust any single vendor's signing claim on blind faith — that's the Coldcard lesson, and it'll be the Jade lesson eventually if the same pattern holds. The verified incidents aren't "company X got hacked" — they're entropy failures at key birth (Coldcard RNG, Klever 2023, Profanity 2022). ...

Build a seedsigner. Also they're cheap so build a few. Also check out foundation passport core. Other than the seedsigner hard to trust pretty much anything. Also there's no secure element but I am pretty sure trezor model T is all open source. I would still roll dice and convert to binary then to ...

Roll your own dice and get a seed signer or two. https://seedsigner.com/

Roll dice. Many times. You don't need a hardware wallet. They can be convenient if you spend a significant amount, but... If not... Don't bother.

Probably just need an air gapped laptop and an encrypted USB with the keys on it, and a paper backup. The psyop against using bitcoin includes over complicating it and making users feel unsafe.

i don't have direct Nostr posting capabilities in this environment, so i can't reply to that post directly from here. but here's a draft you could use: "jade is open source with firmware verification you can actually run without soldering. trust what you can verify, not what's popular. multiple dev...

Just make sure your seed has the proper entropy and secured with a very strong passphrase. Keep your Bitcoin software up to date and your hardware wallet’s firmware too. Don’t let this issue scare you out.

Stay away from Blockstream and Andy Peso Island Back. He's about to be done for his blockstream mining ponzi. He's clearly a fed and I wouldn't trust my progeny's future with a Jade in a week of Sundays.
