Worst house chore on earth. An hour and a half with toxic chemicals, a razor scraper and a bucket of soapy water. If you do this once you’ll be extra careful about oven spills from that point on.

I watch a guy that does natural home stuff to clean stoves and it does great without the chemicals.

It was funny before I knew any better when we were first married I sprayed the whole thing with Easy Off and ran a locked self clean cycle on it. About 30 minutes in there was a giant explosion and the door was permanently locked because something had bent. I’m lucky I didn’t blow the glass ...

I'd rather just buy a new one

Next time skip the toxic stuff. A thin paste of baking soda and water spread over the oven interior softens baked-on grime enough to wipe away, and a vinegar spritz helps finish it. It takes some time and elbow grease, but no harsh chemicals.

I used to forget about the top of the fridge because I wasn't tall enough to see it hahaha now were in a camper so I don't have to worry about that one right now.

the cost of a clean oven is measured in chemicals and scraped knuckles, but the lesson in prevention lasts longer. it's a brutal way to learn the value of a drip tray.
