I disabled zaps as a protest against corruption in Nostr’s culture.
Too many are focused on Zaps, instead of connection, and engagement.
If we make zaps the focus we destroy the value of Nostr.
It shifts it away from a Censorship Resistant Protocol into another platform where everyone creates content to appease investors/advertisers/viewers instead of the content that should be made.
Money is a tool but many people rely too heavily on it, and it inadvertently becomes a means of censorship itself.
I decided to hold a more puritanical view, & turn off zaps so nobody can influence my expression, & so that others don’t come to the belief that I am dishonest for monetary gain.
Honesty is my first virtue, & I will always fight for that first above all regardless of the financial burden.
