Been mildly trying to promote myself of late... Not my strongest point but sharing something I've been finding useful. Orange/Purple piling as a concept never really resonated for me, obviously I get the idea but it's not really language I use round my way and besides, no one's taking financial advice from a fucking sound engineer lolol.

However, using the terms Indie Web, Independent Internet and just plain The Internet, I'm finding it easily to bring up my niche interests in conversation. Obviously not a new idea, folks been into that for decades but I find it so much easier to communicate.

"Yeah I'm on the Indie Web, it's like The Internet, you remember that? You know, like before Facebacon and all that bollocks".

Not only does it come out my mouth easier, I also find people actually seem to understand it.

Thought I'd share that, in case you want to bring up The Internet IRL sometime. I'm saving the pills for when I have a bad case of the shits.

I like the "Indie Web" term. Gonna start using that. For artists I've been saying the New Music Economy but that doesn't work for listeners.

I'm going to try that on some of my fellow sound nerds and see how that language works. Not that I've really used the purple or orange-pilling language, but I think indi web would resonate better with them.
