It's a form that exchanges send you and irs to declare what you sold and when, and it's on you to report your cost basis and holding period, since they don't necessarily know which lots you sold or what you paid.

It's just a 1099 for crypto exchanges. So if you've ever filed a 1099 with a brokerage, it's basically the same. Most tax software will do it automatically. The only issue is if you sold out of self custody via an exchange that did not have your cost basis information, then the 1099-DA could be wro...
