30 years ago the global population was aprox 5b. 10% of those people lived in extreme poverty, often struggling for food.
30 years on, the population is approx 8b, yet the % of people in absolute poverty today is 1%.
Thats 500,000,000 people down to 80,000,000 while the population has risen by over 50%.
I'd say we're doing incredibly bloody well and those who would destroy the systems which have achieved that are either wicked or ill informed.
As a species we've made huge strides forward because of smarter better systems, greater awareness and communication.
Dooming on rich people is not helpful.
