To your point of being reliable- it probably shouldn’t change at all. It’s operating as bedrock since inception. Who dares tinker with that?

All of these arguments come down to definitions... what do we mean by change?

The code itself has evolved since Satoshi’s original implementation.

Part of what makes trees so strong, able to withstand the wind without breaking, is the combination of deepening roots below and a trunk that remains flexible above.

The thing that endures is not the thing that never changes, but the thing whose foundation is preserved through maintenance.

It’s a philosophical dilemma and thought exercise to be sure. On one hand we could be “active maintainers” addressing every conceived concern. On the other let it be. It’s like playing god. We shouldn’t alter perfection no matter how well intentioned.
