So let me get this straight, I go to the grocery store and buy: a pound of sliced ham in a plastic bag, a loaf of bread in a plastic bag, a gallon of milk in a plastic jug, a pack of napkins in plastic wrap, a store made salad in a plastic tub, a plastic bottle of mustard and ketchup, but they won't give me a plastic bag to carry it home because the plastic bag is bad for the environment? Gtfoh..

dont forget you can always buy the reusable bags...which are made of plastic

... but at least you still have your plastic straw, right ?!? Here in EU-rope we can only get cardboard straws ... wrapped in plastic obviously.

Just order a ham sandwich and milk from doordash or ubereats or whatever and they will put it all in a big plastic bag or several.

It gets better - the same government will then spend your taxes paying people to drive around burning diesel and seperately collecting mixed household plastic wastes, which can be recycled only by emitting huge quantities of additional carbon (compared to landfilling it all and just making virgin pl...

The struggle is real

Exactly 😂 Apparently the environment is fine with plastic everywhere… just not the bag I use to carry it all home. 🤦‍♂️

The plastic bag is defined as single-use, so it reduces your overall throw away plastic. The reality is that the supermarket carry bag was typically reused.

What is interesting is that there are big differences between countries as well. In Netherlands for example, I have seen cucumbers wrapped in plastic and singular pepers also wrapped in plastic whereas in other European countries that cannot be found!

They will even charge you extra for the plastic bag on top 😉

Fiat's invisible tax, inflation, is evident in the rising costs of everyday items, like the ones you've listed, with the CPI increasing 6.8% in the last 12 months.

and don't forget all the micro plastics in the food as well.

I get all my meat at the butchers. They wrap everything in grease paper then into paper bags. Supermarket meat is crap, even cold cuts like ham, pay 3 times the price for the same thing. Same goes for bread, if you have a local bakery, most places do, it'll be the same price but freshly made and...

Haha.. that was precise! Totally nonsense. Next step is to offer you a bag with a decorative whale on it costing more than what you are carrying.
