My #bike chain got replaced today. It was new in February when I replaced the whole drive train.
So even though I wiped and oiled it every week, that chain was worth only about 4-5 months... Maybe 20...
@nprofile1q... Every few months if you're using the bike a lot, in all weathers, I'd say is pretty average. And after every 3 chains always replace the cassette.
You can prematurely wear out a chain if you add lubricant on top of lubricant. Only add lubricant after a full clean/degreasing it.
