It’s been two weeks since the computer system at work got upgraded. At that point I immediately lost all access to a lot of documents, all results and patient notes, ability to dictate or approve letters, find my upcoming roster, print anything off, see radiology images. We are not allowed to have contact numbers for the people in the small team that are working incredibly hard to fix things both remotely and face to face. after two days of trying I am still in a position where the system thinks I work somewhere else and I don’t have permission to access my own documents, use teams, apply for leave. I have been working around it by finding computers around the hospital that haven’t been updated. I have no pathway or person I can make a complaint to. The helpline is okay but time consuming and there’s still road blocks. I still need to continue the work we do every day; which has recently been switched over almost entirely to digital.

I raise this publicly because this is all likely to happen again when we are imposed to change our emails again from “tewhatuora” to “healthNZ”. Regardless of what you think of Te reo (I personally think it’s beautiful), I cannot fathom the purpose of putting our complex system through another overhaul like this. It’s so unsafe and stressful.

Please enrol to vote, and vote for people who value back office staff; because we can’t run without them.
