What is the bitcoin network without the human brains as edge nodes? If you take that part of the network away then what's left? Bitcoin is quintessentially human, it's not some part of the solar system.

Nuclear codes are different because if you wrench the top general in a back alley and walk away with the codes you don't have much yet. You still need to break in to a nuclear submarine. Or the pentagon. And do so before the codes expire.

If you wrench someone in a back alley with bitcoin in their head you walk away with all their bitcoin. That's it. Done. You don't have any more steps.

You're focused on the wrench, but you're missing the scale. Gold's physical nature makes it inherently susceptible to mass seizure through the very custodians meant to protect it; i.e. banks and vaults.
