Fair, but Nostr has those things because people want to use them. Secure Scuttlebutt prioritised OPSEC over performance and discoverability. But people want those things, so Nostr grew more and fas...

People will happily throw away all their security for a little convenience. This has been shown time and time again.

Many of the issues are to do with scalability baked into the design of Nostr and cannot be fixed. Fundamental to it is that it wasn't designed as a decentralized p2p network but as a client-server system therefore servers (relays) are always the weak point.

True enough, but I stopped using SSB when my sync started taking over an hour. Nostr scales much better, and its client/server architecture is a big part of that. No free lunches, I fear, only tradeoffs

None of those issues are baked into the design of the protocol. All of them have engineering solutions. Some clients and relays just haven't bothered because they haven't been a problem yet. Do you run your own node? Seems from your relay list that you just added every relay that would accept you....
