Food for thought:
I assume over the past 100y measurements got very precise hence the accurate dotted line downwards.
Now what if the field gets more intense again over the next 100y.
Now let’s say this had happened ever since but just our ability to looking back just gets the average in the middle.
So couldn’t the past have been a wildly oscillating line ?
Would the present than look really that bad?
Obviously I have no idea how they derived the data points 😃
