Games have a concept of "incremental discovery. Where higher level of complexity is revealed over time. I wish social profiles had a concept like this, where I have normie posts on my main feed, but I also have obscure posts that I don't want others to see unless they dig more into subtopics I post, a kind of
"subprofile". I have lots of posts on linux I would like to post but I know most of my follows might not care for it. It would be nice if you could go to someones profile and subscribe to their “subfeeds”.

This would enable the possibility for things way beyond something as simple as “community topics”. The things you could do with subkeys, would go far beyond notes.

I get the idea, but as someone who hates social media and only uses it as a tool, this isn’t my personal gig. I want high signal from those I follow, and I don’t want to work for someone’s attention online. What you’re describing sounds (to me) more like those alt-reality engagers who hook...

Yepp, multiple feeds sounds useful! I could imagine using them to split up my german and english posts 😅.

This can be gold long-term, though ironically I do see a risk of overcomplication for noobs today. Right now the zeitgeist seems to about making onboarding as simple as possible. In All Follows, I gotta be honest and say I miss almost all o fit. I view the feed for a few minutes at a time, catching...

I love the Idea but wouldn't it be better to handle this client side? Might be annoying for me to handle subfeeds as well.

This sounds like a very nice idea, but might be a little tricky to implement?

This is what made Google+ my favorite social network. I could choose to share posts to individual circles, like Bitcoin, without sharing to my other more mainstream circles.

❤️ this. ✅ better discovery of niche topics ✅ more focus on areas of agreement and interests Think of all the opportunities and connections lost because people are upset over one area of disagreement. And the flip side of people not talking about something because of fear of putting off p...

Not just video games, this is much more akin to real life as well. When I meet someone new at a pickup basketball game, I don’t also see their views on abortion, Covid, etc. In real life most people have boundaries by default and only incrementally explore different aspects of acquaintances as ...
