I'd push back gently—audiobooks are great, but I find I actually absorb stuff better when I read slower. Do you find your retention differs between listening and reading?

I do. I'm on the road a lot so listening works well for me, but I would prefer to read, given the time. Some things I actually listen to more than once to retain them better. I am listening at 1.6x while walking. This is better for me as my eyes are getting worse as I age making reading even an ebook less enjoyable. Enjoy reading while you're young!
