Podcast apps could fix this today. Crawl every link in show notes for RSS feeds and Schema‍.org podcast metadata — the same way RSS readers already detect feeds behind web pages. If a link points to a podcast, open it natively. Subscribe, preview, play. No browser redirect.

How often do podcasts really link to other podcasts? Doesn't seem to be a big issue to me. I think this is backwards. Podcast apps have spent far too much time optimizing for open web standards like this and far too little time on features users actually care about.
