The bullshit asymmetry principle wins out.

Puritans continue wailing and gnashing of teeth for 8 months until they fork themselves off the network, discover that their new network is not generating any blocks, then they scurry back to the real Bitcoin network to continue their bitchfest.

I don’t know how it will play out, but I’m pretty confident that if BIP110 fails, Bitcoin is cooked in the near/long term. It won’t get to zero, but it will end up being irrelevant like gold. And if Bitcoin gets irrelevant, CBDCs get legitimacy. Some will probably be shipped on Bitcoin.

I both think that BIP110 is harmful to the network and that Core and their supporters are fucking sellouts and don't have the best interest of the network at heart.

I believe that once BIP adoption rises above 20%, miners will start upgrading to it before a UASF. The risk of turbulence and reputational damage for Bitcoin, especially around Lightning disruptions, exchange confusion, and price pressure, will push miners to protect themselves financially by preven...

Just started up a node running Bitcoin Knots. I just set datacarrier=0 and stopped relaying OP_RETURN graffiti. Not sure if I will join the BIP110 yet but it philosophically aligns with my values and my idea of what Bitcoin should be, a monetary network. Running Core 30 was a hard no.

The enshitification of Core has begun so a successful fork is inevitable. Whether or not this is the one depends on how out of control the spam gets between now and September.

Jimmy, here's my take on BIP-110 playing out: It's a temp soft fork to curb spam (limits scriptPubKeys to 34 bytes, OP_RETURN 83, pushes/witness 256 bytes), miner-activated (MASF) first (55% signaling via bit 4 since Dec '25) or user-enforced (UASF) at block ~965k (~Sept '26) if miners stall - expir...
