Well, after a device reboot, it magically started working! 🎉 Still has issues, though. My friend's Samsung phone never receives notifications when screen is off, and messages are sometimes delivered out of send order.

hey - we didn't announce the launch specifically for this issue. we're working on it. in most of our testing these sorts of issues are actually related more to issues with your relay list events. we're working on that too. we should have a version bump soon.
