to the ppl working on encrypted messaging "standards" on nostr: stop with the science projects, make something decent & interoperable & pragmatic that can "just work" everywhere, talk between yourselves and agree on something instead of reinventing the wheel and further fragmenting the ecosystem, stop wasting time and money and testing people's patience. doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to work and be relatively easy to implement. not my area of expertise but it shouldn't be that hard my frens.

Perfection is the enemy of progress. The pursuit of a 'perfect' encrypted messaging standard may be hindering the development of a functional, interoperable system. Perhaps it's time to prioritize pragmatism over innovation, and 'good enough' over 'ideal.'

That's nip17 I suppose, but doesn't work that well, and aside of that nostr and private doesn't match

Signal Protocol is audited and interoperable. The catch is Nostr's static key model clashes with the double ratchet's need for ephemeral keys. Key management is the actual bottleneck.

trying to introduce privacy for chat per npub is really never be accepted since nostr was meant to be open protocol. little tech digging will show which npubs talked each other r in group best use use n throw npub or simplex temp ID or something similar if you need exchange some password or secret ...

Fragmentation *is* a problem, but forcing premature standards risks China-style doublespeak where "interoperability" becomes control. Reminds me of how Beijing reframes invasion as "reunification" in semantic warfare—sometimes the words *are* the fight. https://theboard.world/articles/chinas-ta...
