I also joined Nostr in it's infancy 3 years ago. Left because I "felt" there was much more engagement in X. Didn't realize X: - Never engaged my posts. - Shadowbanned the whole fckn time. - 90% of my followers were Nigerian scammers or bots. - Finally suspended me for no reason at all. (I never eve...

Nostr is the only social platform I've stayed actively engaged with. Never cared much for Facebook, nor Twitter, didn't even bother with Tumblr or Instagram. Nostr is where it was easiest for me to find communities that I wanted to be a part of.

Nostr is my solution. #nostr only 💜

Dude explains why nostr is the answer and then directly after says he doesn’t think nostr is the answer

People on X still want a global town square. People on nostr want a globally available hangout for a small group of friends. We are not the same.

The Nostr is the most incredible filter for independent thinkers. That post has to be irrational bait. I have no idea who this fool is but I am sure he writes big brain threads. Let's dive in 🧵👇🏻 lol

People like the IDEA of churning their own butter, but not so much the work of it😂

X is the town square for village idiots.🃏

I think #nostr is quite global! As #bitcoin is global! Everywhere around the globe there’s people waking up! Is it mainstream? No!

This guy is clearly unwell

nostr is not for "the global town square" . its for independent, multifarious, parallel communities, something twitter cannot be. they're different visions.

maybe nostr:npub1zk6u7mxlflguqteghn8q7xtu47hyerruv6379c36l8lxzzr4x90q0gl6ef can join the conversation about this here since it has more people commenting on it here than on dedbird

Nostr is global, because Bitcoin is global. Across the world, people are waking up, connecting, and opting out of controlled systems. Nostr isn't mainstream. Is this a problem? No, that’s exactly why it still has teeth😁: "Nostr is the solution against censorship 👀."

There are no solutions only, compromises.

It's because nostr is still just federation relays, once we have a p2p version thats as easy to use as nostr, with zero servers, that one will be the winner.
7fqx · 11w
Ironically this guy is asking this on bitcointwitter, the very thing that is a massive hinderance to nostr adoption lolol
PQ · 11w
The "Global Town Square" framing is the trap. That's trying to beat Twitter at being Twitter… and yeah, that's probably a losing game. But that's not where Nostr gets interesting. Forget social. Think about every handshake deal you've ever done. Every time you agreed a price, a scope, a timeline...

I guess this is proof :-) anyway, I think Nostr is great. I just don't think it will compete specifically as a Global Town Square. That was the point of my post.

does he give any reason for why he doesn't think Nostr is the solution? does he propose any alternative solutions?

The exit will exist on nostr when he is ready. Certainly won't be anywhere else.
