Hard not to feel disappointed in the media these days. Harder still as you age, having read certain bylines for years; having seen them develop; having witnessed them decline.

Nothing new under the sun. I’m old enough to remember the Cold War & all the fakery. Russia bad etc. complete nonsense.

When was the media not disappointing?

An understatement.

Media is same as is always was. It is just more efficient. I already said this week but say again. We can only be told if we listen. Maybe it is time to develope the Media Chain.

By "the media" do you mean regime media? I think our access to real media is dramatically better than it used to be My goal is not to reform or even assault the regime, but to render it obsolete and impotent

The incentive model is screwed up. For-profit print and TV news just care about eyeballs and clicks, there's no reward for accuracy or the type of news people really should know.

There are no words to describe the level of disgracefulness.

A harder witness is the reallization we are the generation who need to either keep the republic or not. It is on ourselves to whom the future may curse.

The push/pull keeps people in a perpetual state of helplessness or false hope so they never take action themselves. No matter what side of the political spectrum you on the media is not in your side.

Do you have an algorithm we can use in your documents that can depropagandize the news feeds and the news? Something like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda:_The_Formation_of_Men%27s_Attitudes

I think it’s incredible just how dishonest they are.

The internet was a mistake

I agree with you. It's like watching someone you know and trust change over time and not in a good way. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

There's such a thing as media today? Its been destroyed since Assange. He is a martyr .

It seems so ironic that “the news” was likely much more trustworthy in the “centralized” media days of Cronkite. The internet gave me hope (decentralized media, yeah!) but most of it seems to have been captured by dark forces. Bitcoin gives me hope too, and I just hope that these same dark f...

It's all just shadow theatre on the cave wall. We cant fairly or accurately describe most events, and that's okay. The real danger was the expectation that we could, and that news is truthful by default. This break of faith [from news] is extremely positive.

Yes. I mostly ignore corporate media today. There is a lot of shit going on and I am kinda shit fatigued. Knowing more about that shit won't improve my life.

Control only what you can: your thoughts, choices, and actions. Let go of the rest, and find tranquility in that simple truth.

It's hard not to think of how the corporate media acted during the Satanic Panic of the 1980's. Journalism has been dead for decades, it's just that a few people are now finally noticing. People's lives were ruined, and no one cares. I see no decline. https://www.tpr.org/criminal-justice/20...

This is why a good personal network is important. Here we can detect when a byline deteriorates and when new ones to follow arise. So beautiful nostriches, who's doing good work now? The latest I've followed is Public (https://public.substack.com/)

Local news is the news I grew up with, and is the news that’s actually relevant to a person’s reality. Unfortunately, in an era where streaming and centralized internet platforms dominates, it’s hard to connect with local news content. There’s still good reporting to be found, even by th...

Hi, I am a French teacher teaching English to high school students. I just wanted to say I have taught these kids about you, your bravery and the meaning of your actions. Guess what, it actually resonates with them, each year, some of them tell me they’ve loved the movie and documentaries about yo...
