hey Standard Notes users they changed the license to a CC nonFOSS a few weeks ago. No more updates possible from FDroid total bummer. I liked that app (and sent them some monero)

But it is still open source, right?
And so, if needed, I could run and host it myself?
Or am I now their hostage, as with Google Keep, and it's time to migrate?

I'm using Standard Notes as well
I like it a lot
I hope it is still okay, I am fine with using Google play for now

This sucks. I think this would mean it is only source viewable? Or is it worse than that? Not sure. Notesnook is a good alternative if so.

You can still run it and host it yourself. And if you're good with Google Play you will still get updates. They have a restricted "source viewable" license that prohibits commercial development. Which is much better than closed source but not FOSS and causes some problems.
