Here' some context to the slight drop in UK unemployment reported yesterday. Across the OECD the UK's unemployment rate is just above the overall (aggregated) rate for the whole of the OECD.

So, while the unemployment rate remains too high (from a welfare standpoint) given the international context the UK is hardly an outlier on this indicator, even if in other areas from productivity to investment the UK's is a lot further from commonplace performance.
