Why’s interesting is that previous ‘pro free-speech’ platforms (Gab, Parler etc) were completely captured by people who just went there to say the naughty stuff that got you banned on Twitter

AND then ironically couldn’t even support free speech due being centrally owned and controlled

Nostr on the other hand is both an *actual* protocol for free speech, *and* has managed to avoid being culturally dominated by people who want to exploit that freedom performatively. At least, so far.

real freedom attracts different people but there has been some naughty on nostr and it will continue

Inevitably this kind of thing will make its way in, so what do y’all think is the way to keep it out without impinging on free speech ideals? Would it be up to a client to filter it out, perhaps using an open sourced, non-biased AI layer on top?

Yes! I feel like you have to have some intellectual fortitude to navigate Nostr, so those unwilling to learn and inquire don't have the curiosity or grit to progress on this platform.

I think those other platforms were *started by* people who wanted to do that, right? So that might be a big reason why.

Remember free speech here means they want to be able to say the N word freely and without any consequences Thats why it’s bullshit

I agree! But nostr desperately needs some actual content. That's what draws me back to Twitter n Mastodon. Journos n OSINT folks mostly stay there as far as I can tell.

But I'm still skeptic about freedom of speech inside nostr. Because seems easy to have yoir notes linked to an IP.
