I don’t know if you guys realise this, but the idea that an “economic” node should have greater influence over a protocol change is fundamentally the same concept behind Proof of Stake.
I think a lot of people are confused on the fact that Bitcoin nodes have great power when it comes to resisting protocol changes and much less so when it comes to actively proposing and enforcing changes.
