Assuming that OCEAN runs a BIP-110 node (fair assumption) for broadcasting, it would view the block as invalid. But because of the way that DATUM works, you would still broadcast your own block and i...

DATUM allows for pooled mining while each miner decides on their block template. That's what I was referring to.

Currently, you can mine for Ocean pool and get paid the proportional share of your hashrate for the pool mined blocks while choosing your own block templates.

This gets interesting if some blocks stop being considered valid. Or if Ocean needs to check every miner's block template to decide if their shares are valid or not.

And Ocean is a company. That does way more than "organizing hashrate" so it's not crazy to ask them for their intentions on this topic.

Oh and about profitability, the problem is not the small difference in fees depending on the block transactions. I was talking about having most of the pool's hashrate mining only over a BIP-110 chain of blocks (fork) that then get reorged so all those block rewards are gone and the hashrate "wasted...

There's no way to know that a miner's hash corresponds to a block template that they show you. OCEAN would only know that their block template or at least one of the transactions within it are invalid when they produce the valid proof of work hash. Put simply, OCEAN does not pay for invalid blocks....
